The agricultural business

Tera Farms is developing oil palm, coconut and mango estates in Nigeria. The verified 50-acre foundation estate in Biase LGA, Cross River State, has completed soil testing and is in land preparation, and the long-term plan is a 500-acre estate developed in phases. Performance depends on real agricultural activities: the land, the planting material, the weather, the quality of management, the cost of inputs and the price the market pays for produce.

Tree crops take several years to reach commercial production. Participation in Tera Farms is a long-term commitment to an operating farm.

Development plan

The verified 50-acre foundation estate is organised into three Phase 1 divisions: 35 acres of oil palm, 10 acres of coconut and 5 acres of mango. Soil testing is complete and land preparation is under way, to be followed by crop block organisation, seedling sourcing and initial planting. Expansion toward the long-term 500-acre estate is phased, and each stage is published on the Transparency page as it is reached.

Participation concept

Participants contribute capital toward estate development and share in the outcome of the business according to legally documented terms. Management has published reference contribution packages so that prospective participants can understand the scale of involvement being considered.

The final form of participation and its terms are being settled with legal counsel and will be set out in formal investor documentation.

Structure and legal status

Any future structure will be designed so that:

  • participants' rights and obligations are set out in formal documentation;
  • contributions are recorded and reconciled;
  • distributions, if any, are made only from distributable profit after costs, reserves and taxes;
  • reporting to participants is regular and labelled by confidence level.

A contribution will not be presented as ownership of land, of a fixed number of trees, or of a fixed return, unless the approved legal documents say so.

The participation structure is being finalised with legal counsel. Contributions are not accepted through this website; eligible participants will receive formal documentation setting out the terms. Updates will be published here.

Risks

Agriculture carries real risk: weather, pests, timing, markets, operations, land and regulation all affect results, and no return is guaranteed. The principal risks are set out in full in our Risk Disclosure, which anyone considering participation should read.
